Time as an Important Aspect of Life
According to Greg Lindberg, time is the only gift one can use to beat a genetically superior person or even a person with more resources. With time, Greg Lindberg recommends that one can turn around things. Assuming you opted to dedicate eight hours of work to a project per day, and you have minimal resources at your disposal, and another person dedicates only one hour to a similar project. Greg Lindberg will tell you that even when the person dedicating only one hour of his time to the project has a hundred times more resources initially, the person dedicating more time to his or her project will catch up with the person dedicating only one hour in the long run.
According to Greg Lindberg, a gifted student, may spend only five minutes to grasp a concept while another may take up to thirty minutes to grasp the same concept. One as a student who takes more time to understand concepts would need to work even harder to match students who take lesser time. That tells you that time is the only avenue you can utilize to catch up with those ahead of you, and pass them where you invest even more of it. You would need two-time intelligence curves where one studies more while the other is more intelligent. While the sharper student would grasp more within a shorter time, the less sharp student can catch up by investing more time on studying. According to Greg Lindberg, the student who takes longer to grasp a concept would need to work more to catch up with that with better genes. However, if only the student with better genes worked as hard, he or she would be far much better than his or her colleague.
A person with resources or even gifted in some way would turn things around at a higher rate in a case where he or she invested more of his or her time at work or at school. It is unfortunate that some of these people with more resources at the beginning only tend to compare themselves with people around them and hence do not achieve as much as they should if they spent more time working or reading. According to Greg Lindberg, they end up only working hard to stay on top. To a person with better genes and more resources, time would be a boost to making him a national or even an international role model. However, time may be the only thing you would need to utilize upwards. Greg Lindberg would make it sound even more dramatic by saying that time makes all the difference over time. While one may have worked a few extra hours for extra pay or even read a few extra minutes, it would make all the difference over time.
